The Car ( Happily Maried Series )

3-Feb-2018 | 6.00 PM | KR Puram

It was a beautiful Sunday evening. In my home balcony, I was reading the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” written by Robert Kiyosaki. I was amazed by the contents of the book, as the author have given lots of philosophies to achieve Financial Freedom. This book is about coming out of the 9 to 6 corporate rat race and living our dreams without worrying about money.

“Do you want Herbal Tea?” my wife’s sweet voice echoed from our Kitchen.
I am little surprised, as it is the first time in the history my wife have asked whether I need a Herbal Tea. Usually, she will prepare the Herbal Tea only based on my request. Sometimes, I need to remind her two or three times.

After handing over the Herbal tea to me, she said “We need to present something for our son’s Birthday which is coming this month”

“Sure, Why not ?”

“As he likes car very much, let’s present him car this Birthday” She replied.

“It is a good idea. Please select the car and “Add to Cart” in our Amazon account” I said with a smile on the face.

“Whether Amazon sells cars also?” she asked puzzled.

“Have you seen Amazon logo, it have an arrow that connects A to Z, which represents that it sells everything from A to Z” I answered.

“It is better to visit showroom and purchase a car, rather than in Amazon”

“Why to spend Rs.300 to go to the showroom to buy a Rs.300 worth car” I asked.

“Hello, I am talking about the Original car and not toy car” She replied.

“Whether the gift is for our Son or you” I asked.

“It is for all of us” she replied smartly. Yes,not all beautiful girls are dumb.

Saint inside me told her that “In this Bangalore traffic, both our Maruti Zen and AUDI will go in the same speed”

“Stop giving me Gyan and tell whether you can buy or not” she said raising her voice.

“I would like to achieve Financial Freedom by 2030 and go back to our hometown. So I am not interested to invest in a car, which is a liability” I replied with a firm voice angrily.

I could see her eyes becoming moist, giving indication that there is heavy storm coming soon. Without replying anything with a little sad face, she quickly rushed inside the bedroom. Luckily, I got my Herbal Tea. I sipped it quickly and I wanted to get out of the scene as soon as possible before.

After changing the dress, I picked up the car key and stepped out of my home without informing her. I started my car without knowing the destination. In my car, Hare Krishna Mahamantra was playing in background with a melodious music.

'Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare'

On hearing the Mahamantra, suddenly, a light bulb sparked in my brain. I got the answer for the destination and started moving my car towards the nearest Hare Krishna temple.

3-Feb-2018 | 7.00 PM | Hare Krishna Temple
I reached the Hare Krishna temple and prayed to Lord Krishna to give me mental peace and happiness. On opening the eyes, one of the volunteers have requested me to attend the Bhagavad Gita session that will start in a couple of minutes. He asked me to go to the auditorium which is in the first floor. He also told me that free Dinner Prasad will be distributed for all the Bhagavad Gita participants. As I am confident that I won’t get Dinner tonight at home, I thought that it will be a wise decision to attend the Gita class to get the free Dinner.

I reached the temple auditorium and it is almost full. However there are three seats unoccupied in the first row. I walked to the first row like a VIP and occupied a comfortable seat. A young handsome monk in a saffron cloth entered the auditorium and have taken the seat on the stage. He started his speech with a regular prayer. He introduced himself to us and he told that his name is “Giridhari”.

The monk has a cute smile on his face always. He told the audience that today's topic is 'KARMA'. He posted a general question to all of us “What is Karma?”. Everyone in the auditorium gave their version of definition. He suddenly pointed me and asked the same question “What is Karma?”.

Now I could understand that why three seats are empty in the first row, when I entered the auditorium. It is clear to me now that the people would like to avoid direct questions from the trainer by sitting in the first row.

I regained my strength and replied that “It is my KARMA to attend this session today and answer this question”. Whole auditorium burst out laughing including the monk.

The Monk explained that “Karma means action. But actions can either bind one to this materialistic world or liberate one from it. What goes around, comes around. You reap what you sow. When you sow a Mango tree, you reap the mangoes. However, AKARMA, engaging in the devotional service of the almighty, is the one that helps people to get people free from the cycle of birth and death”

He finished his session ontime at 8.30 PM and informed us “Do you have any burning questions?”

There was pin drop silence in the Auditorium.

“If you don’t have any questions, you can go to the Dining hall where the Prasad is being served” the monk informed us.

After the session, I went to the monk and told him that “Your speech is Brilliant. I got answers for all my questions which was disturbing my mind. Thank you”

“All proud to God. It is HIM, who spoke through me” he replied humbly with a beautiful smile on his face. It is very clear that he don’t want to take credit for his speech. I returned home in my car with a clarity in my mind.

As soon as I reached home, I went straight to my wife. She was busy preparing her favorite Idli at Kitchen. On seeing me, she turned her face. I could sense that the anger is fuming from her face still.

I caught her both hands and I told “I got a great Wisdom today in the Bhagavad Gita Class and I am Sorry for hurting you. Please apologize me”

She was puzzled by my behavior.

I continued “In today’s Bhagavad Gita class, our master told that people (Boss, Colleagues, Friends, Spouse, Children, etc) are sent to us based on your past Karma's. So, if someone tries to disturb your mental peace, don’t get angry with them. You are irritating me, because of my past bad Karma's. So there is no use in getting anger with you. If I need to get angry, I need to get angry with myself for my ignorance. Indeed I need to Thank you for helping me delete my bad Karma's from my Karmic account”

I added, “Let’s buy the car as per your wish on our son’s next birthday. I need some time to save some money for our new car down payment”

“It's OK. I could understand your feelings. Let’s drop our car plan and let’s together work as a team, to achieve our financial Independence” she replied with a smile on her face.

Suddenly, my eyes were on the Lord Krishna photo in the monthly calendar in which it is written as “Anyone who takes shelter under my lotus feet will be saved”
