I have attended the Meditation based Personal Development (MBPT)
program on 2-Mar-2019 and 3-Mar-2019 at SoulTrends, HSR Layout, Bangalore. Dr.Sai Sagar who was working as a Vice President at CTS was our faculty for the program.
During
the two days program the importance and impact of meditation was taught. During the program, Buddha’s Anapanasati meditation,
watching our own breath is taught.
How much time to
meditate ?
One minute per year of your age. Suppose, if a person’s age
is 27 years, he need to meditate for 27 minutes per day.
What is the best time
to meditate ?
Anytime. Anyplace. Anywhere. When you are awake and doesn't involve your conscious attention.
How long to meditate ?
Till thought free state is achieved and maintained.
I have got two important leanings from this program which I
would like to present it in the below article.
Lesson-1: When we get
stressed, survival mode will be activated in the brain, it induces adrenaline
in our body. Since we are not running daily, as in olden days for survival, the
unused adrenaline, hardens the muscles and creates pain typically shoulder
pain, neck and back pain etc. However meditation reduces anxiety and stress and
hence there will be no excess adrenaline secretion in our body.
Lesson-2: All human beings are born with five important
abilities namely Innate intelligence, Creativity,
Concentration, Self-confidence and Contentment / Gratitude.Our education system, instead of honing these abilities,
focuses mainly on money making knowledge and skills. It is the right time to
unlearn those knowledge which we have learnt for profession. Consistent meditation
would help to enhance our five default abilities.

What shapes our thoughts ( Five
things) ?
1. Expectation
- from yourself
- from others
- from situations
and
- from things
2. Attachment / Involvement

3. Complex (Inferior / Superior)
- comparison
- judgement
- non acceptance
- lack of skill,
confidence etc
4. Agitation
- worries about
future
- regret about past
- fear of injury,
death
- thinking for others
5. Outside-in thinking
- will be happy
- will be secured
- will be fulfilled
- will be peaceful
- will be better
- will be OK... When I
