13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck - Book Review

Being lucky is not determined by the heavens but by our ability to raise opportunities, recognize them, and respond to them - Ashwin Sanghi

A recent study shows that "Most readers doesn't even complete eighteen pages of an Average book". As a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, I have the habit of reading the book sample before purchasing the book. While searching for some good Self-Help books in Amazon Kindle, I got the book Suggestion,"13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck" written by Ashwin Sanghi.

I should rightly tell that Ashwin and his team have succeeded in making me download this book sample by keeping a catchy title ("13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck", in which the number 13 contradicts with good Luck) and a brilliant book cover that holds Lemon and Green Chilly photo. (In India Lemon and Green Chilly is tied in-front of the home and vehicles. It is believed that this Duo have the power to bring Good luck).

I started reading the book sample, to check whether Ashwin Sanghi have got enough talent to impress me. Yes, most of the Amazon best sellers authors are not in my favorites list. However, Ashwin have hit a massive six in the second page and impressed me a lot, with the following lines  :

"My own success as an author has little to do with hard work or talent. Many individuals I have met work much harder than most of us, yet they sadly remain unsuccessful. I also know people who have achieved great heights with significantly less effort"

We also see mass-market authors—like me—who are far less talented but whose bestsellers make millions. We see the same phenomenon repeated in almost all fields of life: cinema, industry, banking, creative arts and even politics. One finds numerous examples of individuals who manage to attract much more than their ‘fair’ share of good luck. What explains it?"

After reading these lines, I paused for couple of minutes to think and process this information. My inner voice whispered "Yes, author is making some sense, even we could see lots of examples around us. Let's give this book a try". Without further reading, I ordered this book in Kindle for just Rs.49. Yes, the true Wisdom that brings happiness and success is available in discounted rate in Amazon.

"13 Steps to Bloody Good Luck" is one of the best Self-Help books that I have read in recent times. It is his first debut Non-fiction book by Ashwin Sanghi, in which the author have hit a brilliant century. If you are one of the persons, who often complaint your stars, for not being lucky, then it is high time you stop chasing your stars and read this book. This book holds the answers, why the lady luck is not dating with you until now.

Ashwin Sanghi revealed that, it takes him about eighteen months to write a novel, of which nine months are spent on research. It is no surprise that his novels The Rozabal Line, Chanakya's Chant, The Krishna Key are in the best sellers list for a long time.

My beloved master Dr.Nagore Rumi quotes often "If you don't have the door of opportunity, it is time to build one". Successful people don't wait in their house veranda for the invitation of luck, instead they go out and search for it and grab it. It is very clear that the author have done an in-depth research studying the life's of successful men before writing this book. This book is flooded with lots and lots of real life success stories and quotes of wise men across the globe, who have made luck as their partner.

I would like to present one real life story of Sachin Tendulkar, to give you the taste of the book.

If Cricket is the religion, then Sachin will be surely considered as the "God of Cricket". Sachin is respected and loved across the globe for his attitude and his brilliant batting skills. Hansie Cronje, the south african captain once quoted "I has to remind Gary kristen often that he was in the covers to filed agains Sachin, not to applaud him". If you feel that Sachin is lucky, then let's see a small incident that transformed him as the King of Cricket.

One day, Sachin have skipped his training and went to Wankhede stadium to cheer for his school team. Ramakant Achrekar (Coach of Sachin) was also in the stadium at that moment. The Coach slapped across Sachin's face saying "You don't have to be here to cheer others. Play in such a way that others cheers You".

As per Sachin, that slap transformed his life positively. Within a decade of this incident, Whenever Sachin comes to bat, the whole Wankhede cricket stadium will be cheering with the slogan "Sachin...Sachin...Sachin...Sachin". Yes, he made his coach words a reality.

I can summarize this book as "Not every Lucky person is Successful. But every Successful person is Lucky". Yes, the successful people knows the secret ingredient to attract luck and they don't rely on their stones and stars. If you feel that the Lottery winners are lucky, a report claims that 70 percent of lottery winners end up bankrupt within Five Years. Henry Ford was Bankrupt at age Forty, however he knows the formula to attract Luck once again and established the world's best Automobile Industry.

Yes, you too can attract Luck by following the footprints of the successful men.
Happy Reading. Wish you Good Luck, sorry Bloody Good Luck friends.
